Visit to the EU institutions for Ukrainian journalists

    *** The Information Unit of the Directorate for External Relations of the European Commission every year invites journalists from all over the world to visit the EU institutions. These visits are an opportunity to explain the role of the EU institutions and look at particular policy areas of interest. In 2005 the Commission, for the third time, invites a group of journalists from Ukraine to Brussels. With this invitation to the Ukrainian media the Commission wishes to underline the importance it attaches to its relations with Ukraine after the signature of the EU-Ukraine Action Plan on 21 February 2005.
    This year’s visit is planned for the period 26 June to 01 July 2005 and will include meetings with the representatives of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. So far, 25 Ukrainian journalists from various Ukrainian media outlets have participated in previous visits. Last year’s programme may be obtained from the Delegation. This year the European Commission would like to invite ten leading Ukrainian journalists who fit the following criteria:
    ° Advanced knowledge of EU affairs and the EU’s relations with Ukraine
    ° Ability to follow presentations in English without interpretation
    ° Proven record of reporting on EU issues
    All expenses related to the visit will be covered by the Delegation of the European Commission to Ukraine. This includes air flights, accommodation, per diems, and visa expenses.
    If you are interested to participate in this visit, please fill in the attached application form. Please, be aware that applications can only be considered if the candidate possesses valid travel documents. The deadline for submission of applications is 25 May 2005. All applicants will be informed about the results of the selection by 01 June 2005.
