REGIONAL TRAININGS

    “NEW MODELS OF THE SOCIAL SERVICES. DIRECTIONS, FORMS AND METHODS OF WORK” UNDER EU PROJECT
    
    A number of regional trainings «New models of the social services. Directions, forms and methods of work» under the EU Project «Development of Integrated Social Services for Exposed Families and Children» are carried out for social workers of the family support services and early intervention services from 10th to 21st of April, 2006 in Kyiv oblast.
    
    The overall objective of the EU Project «Development of Integrated Social Services for Exposed Families and Children» is to reduce general number of children living in residential institutions of Kyiv oblast by assisting development and implementation of the social services, enabled to provide effective support and social accompaniment for the vulnerable families with children who undergo the crisis or endure difficult living conditions. Integrated social services are established within the structures of the regional and city social services for family, children and youth in Kyiv oblast as a pilot region.
    
    One of the key elements of the project is to enhance the professional skills of the social workers from the newly established centers when providing social and information services for the vulnerable families with children. It includes development of the special training programs and their further adaptation, and is the main reason to hold the trainings for the social workers from 34 rayons and cities of Kyiv oblast.
    
    Training objectives are:
    - to review activities of the social services for families, children and youth in the view of the state policy on exercising children rights;
    - to classify families planned to include in the social escort services of the project;
    - to introduce methods of the social work with the families who endure difficult living conditions;
    - to introduce methods of the social work in case of refusal from the new-born children;
    - to elaborate duties of the social workers of the early intervention and family support services;
    - to review the scheme of interagency co-operation which goes basic for the social accompaniment of the families under the difficult living conditions.
    
    On the whole 140 social workers from the family support services and services of early intervention will enhance their qualification as an outcome for the number of trainings conducted within the EU Project. The next step of the annual advanced training program is to carry out trainings for the social workers from the family-type care services and managers of the centers regarding effective management of the activities.
