Declaration by the Presidency of the European Union on Ukraine

    *** The Presidency of the European Union calls on all parties to meet again in the same formation as during the roundtable talks on 26 November this year and to live up to the agreements made there. Respecting the unity of Ukraine is essential to a peaceful solution to the conflict. Any use of force is to be condemned. The Presidency emphasises that the European Union is willing to continue to play a supportive role in the resolution of the conflict. Prime minister Balkenende in a telephone conversation today brought this position to the attention of the Ukrainian President Kuchma. Minister Bot did the same in a telephone call to his Ukrainian counterpart Grychenko.
