The list of candidates for the Public Council of International Experts submitted

    The EU has been requested by the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, alongside 14 other international organisations, to nominate candidates for the Public Council of International Experts, which will be involved in the selection of judges for the High Anti-Corruption Court.
    The EU has helped to coordinate efforts among international organisations for a consolidated list of experienced, international experts who fulfil the Ukrainian legal requirements. The list of candidates was submitted to the High Qualification Commission of Judges on Friday, 14 September 2018.
    According to the Law on the High Anti-Corruption Court, the Public Council of International Experts will assist the High Qualification Commission of Judges in assessing candidates' integrity, professional knowledge and practical skills. The final selection lies with the Ukrainian authorities. International donors, including the EU, will also provide technical assistance to the members of the Public Council of International Experts to support their mandate.
    We look forward to a transparent and merit-based selection process and an appropriate role for the Public Council of International Experts in line with its mandate. In particular, the international experts should enjoy full access to applicants' dossiers and rely on clear procedures for the interaction with the High Qualification Commission of Judges.
