What benefits can military personnel and their families receive?

    Ukrainian legislation provides a range of social guarantees for military personnel and their family members, including children, spouses, parents, and dependents. Depending on the circumstances, they may be entitled to additional combat pay, compensation for medical treatment following an injury, a one-time financial assistance payment in the event of disability or the death of a servicemember, as well as pension benefits. The amounts of these payments are clearly established by law. For example, a person granted Group II disability is entitled to a one-time payment of UAH 998,400, while a survivor’s pension may amount to 70% or more of the servicemember’s financial allowance.
    
    In practice, the greatest challenges usually arise not from the right to receive these benefits itself, but from confirming a person's legal status, family relationship, or preparing the required documentation. This is especially relevant when a child was born outside of marriage and the servicemember father was killed, went missing, or did not have time to officially recognize paternity.
