Euroclubs promote European values in Ukraine

March 21, 2013.

Two thematic regional events in the framework of a project “Supporting Regional Euroclubs in Ukraine” funded by the EU Delegation to Ukraine were held in Kirovohrad and Dnipropetrovsk on 14-15 March. The EU Delegation provided support to these events.

Meetings attracted the wide range of participants: Euroclubs leaders, experts, scientists, representatives of regional and local Euroclub associations, as well as local authorities. Victoria Davydova, Press and Information Officer of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, also participated in these events.

On 14 March, the meeting “Projects Fair”, organized as a competition programme, was held in Kirovohrad. It served as a platform for the regional Euroclub members to present their projects aimed at promoting European values among Ukrainian pupils, raising their awareness of Ukrainian cultural heritage as a part of the European tradition, as well as fostering young people’s active citizenship, in particular in the field of environmental protection and healthy lifestyle.

During the meeting Victoria Davydova informed participants about activities of the EU Delegation to Ukraine and raised the issue of the role of youth in a state-building process.

On 15 March, the next event under the project, the round table “Ukraine in the multicultural world”, was conducted in Dnipropetrovsk. It brought together experienced Euroclub associations’ leaders offering them an opportunity to discuss the common challenges and stress the need to share knowledge and expertise among Euroclubs from different regions of Ukraine.

Moreover, the participants got useful information about educational possibilities in the EU, including Erasmus for All, Erasmus Mundus, and Tempus. Victoria Davydova encouraged the participants to actively engage in these programmes, saying that it would contribute to enhanced personal and institutional co-operation between EU and Ukraine in education and training sector.

Both events served as a good platform for interesting and fruitful discussions and exchange of ideas with the view of strengthening co-operation between Euroclubs of Kirovohrad and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
