Statement by Ambassador Yan Tombinski
September 6, 2013.
The first week of work in the Verkhovna Rada after the summerbreak proofs that a consensus between political forces on EU-related legislation is possible.
Party of Regions, Batkyvshchina, Udar and Svoboda have demonstrated their determination to adopt laws and to get engaged in reforms, which make Ukraine's desire to sign the Association Agreement more credible.
Overhelming majority of more than 350 votes is the best answer to those, who doubted in political will of Ukraine to demonstrate tangible progress in reforms. A very important step towards the signature of the Association Agreement in Vilnius at the end of November has been made, although an equal mobilisation is needed in coming weeks in order to do a remaining work.
