Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga: signing of EU- Ukraine Memorandum of Understanding on EU's Macro-Financial assistance to Ukraine

The fourth Eastern Partnership summit will be held in Riga, Latvia on 21-22 May 2015. It will bring together the leaders of the European Union and the Member States with those of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The summit will be chaired by President Tusk and hosted by the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
During Riga Summit Vice-President of the European Commission Dombrovskis will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on the latest (third) package of EU Macro-Financial Assistance of Euro 1.8 billion to Ukraine with Ukrainian counterparts - Minister of Finance Natalie Jaresko and Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeriia Gontareva.
The latest Macro-Financial Assistance follows two similar programmes of a combined EUR 1.61 billion disbursed between May 2014 and April 2015. Together the three MFA operations to Ukraine amount to Euro3.41 billion, which represents the largest financial assistance to a third country in such a short time.
The signature will take place on Friday 22 May 10AM (Brussels time) and will be broadcast on EbS.
