The European Region of Rivne: a week of events from the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine in Ostroh

September 29, 2015.

    From 29 September to 4 October 2015, a number of important Europe-related events, which will be organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, shall be held in Rivnenska oblast. Among the scheduled events are the opening of the EU Information Centre on the premises of the National University of Ostroh Academy, the EU Study Days in Ukraine as well as the literary and awareness-raising event “EURO Book Fare”. This event shall comprise the “Vydavnytstvo Staroho Leva” editorial house fare, meeting-discussion with a writer Sofia Andrukhovych as well as a competition on the topic “The Book that Changed Europe”, in which everyone interested will be able to take part.
    
    What? Opening of the EU Information Centre on the premises of the National University of Ostroh Academy and a Press Briefing
    
    When? 1 October 2015, 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.
    
    Where? University Research Library (2, Seminarska Street, Ostroh)
    
    On 1 October 2015, the EU Delegation to Ukraine shall open a new EU Information Centre on the premises of the National University of Ostroh Academy. The purpose of the Center is to disseminate information about the European Union and its policy, provision of support to the universities and think tanks, support the students in participation in Europe-related debates and receiving scholarship, inter alia. On account of the opening, the local journalists are invited to communicate with the EU diplomats. The transfer on route Rivne-Ostroh-Rivne will be provided for the journalists from Rivne wishing to attend the event.
    
    What? Literary and Awareness-Raising Event “EURO Book Fare”
    
    When? 2 October 2015, 10.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.

    On 2 October 2015, the EU Delegation to Ukraine invites the youth, students, journalists, civil society activists and all interested to take part in the literary and awareness-raising event “EURO Book Fare”. The event shall comprise the following activities:
    
    - Communication with the writer Sofia Andrukhovych and the presentation of her book “Felix Austria”, which received 3 awards in 2014, including the BBC Book of the Year award;
    
    - “Vydavnytstvo Staroho Leva” editorial house book fare;
    
    - Competition “The Book Which Changed Europe”, for which the competitors need to tell a story, in the process of 5 minute dialogue with invited guests, explaining which book in their opinion changed Europe and why. All interested are invited to participate. The Jury Committee shall select 3 best stories, the authors of which shall receive awards from the EU Delegation. All the other participants shall also be rewarded for participation with the books “Felix Austria” by Sofia Andrukhovych and “Distant and Close” (“Daleki Blyzki”) by the event moderator Volodymyr Yermolenko.
    
    Also, in the period of 30 September – 4 October 2015 the EU Study Days in Ukraine shall take place in Ostroh, which the EU Delegation is organizing for the thirteenth time. The goal of the initiative is to provide the Ukrainian students and university graduates with deeper and more profound knowledge about the main features of the European Union and EU-Ukraine relations.
    
    The events are held in the framework of the information campaign “Building Europe in Ukraine”. This is a series of information and awareness-raising events (street campaigns, exhibitions, seminars, trainings, round-tables), which the EU Delegation to Ukraine holds in different cities of Ukraine. The goal of the campaign is the promotion of European values and the enhancement of Ukrainians’ knowledge concerning the development of EU-Ukraine relations. All interested are invited to participate in the events in the framework of the EU Delegation information campaign.
